Card Payment Method Codes

Reference of paymentMethod codes for credit and debit cards by country, card brand, and currency.

Every card payin requires a paymentMethod object that tells Localpayment which country, product, and card brand to process. This article lists the codes for each supported country so you can build that object correctly in any card flow.

How the Card paymentMethod Object Works

The same three fields are used for every card flow:

FieldDescriptionValues
paymentMethod.typeCard productCreditCard or DebitCard
paymentMethod.codeIdentifies the country, product, and card brand. In Peru it also identifies the currency.See the tables below
paymentMethod.flowIntegration flowDIRECT

The type must match the product of the code. For example, code 1906 (Mastercard debit in Colombia) is sent with "type": "DebitCard".

"paymentMethod": {
  "type": "CreditCard",
  "code": "1900",
  "flow": "DIRECT"
}

Peru (PEN and USD)

Peru accepts card payments in Peruvian soles (PEN) and US dollars (USD). Each currency has its own code, so the code you send must match the currency of the request.

In Peru, always pick the code from the row that matches the currency of your request. A PEN code must be sent with "currency": "PEN" and a USD code with "currency": "USD".

For minimum and maximum amounts, working hours, and card logos, see the country pages in Countries & Markets.

To check which card flows (one-time payments, 3D Secure, installments, subscriptions, and more) each country supports, see Card Operations. For complete request and response examples, see One-Time Payments and the Create Payin API reference.
