Payout capabilities, processing times, and available operations vary by destination country and local banking regulations. Please refer to specific country documentation for detailed requirements and limitations.

How Payouts Work

The payout lifecycle involves two parallel flows: the Money Flow (funding, conversion, and disbursement) and the Information Flow (payment instructions and confirmations). Here is a step-by-step breakdown of how a payout is processed from account funding to beneficiary receipt.

Payout Flow

  1. Transfer to Localpayment bank account/wallet: You initiate a wire transfer from your corporate bank account to Localpayment's designated account, in the required currency. Refer to our Wire-In documentation for detailed instructions.
  2. Send proof of payment: After initiating the wire transfer, you send the transfer receipt or reference number to the Localpayment support team for manual verification.
  3. Transfer verification completed: Our operations team verifies the incoming funds against the proof of payment you provided.
  4. Account funding (USD): The verified funds are credited to your Global Master Account in USD.
  5. Convert USD to local currency: If you need to pay beneficiaries in a local currency (e.g., BRL, MXN, COP), we perform an FX conversion from your USD balance to the target currency at the current rate.
  6. Account funding (local currency): The converted funds are deposited into your Internal Localpayment Account denominated in the local currency.
  7. Send payment order: Your system calls the Create Payout endpoint with the beneficiary details ( amount, currency, bank account, beneficiary name, document ID).
  8. Check and confirm funds: Before processing your payout request, we verify that your Internal Localpayment Account has sufficient balance to cover the amount plus fees.
  9. Send transfer instructions: Localpayment routes the payout instruction to the beneficiary's bank through the local clearing house or partner bank.
  10. Allocate funds: The funds are sent through the local clearing house or partner bank and credited to the beneficiary's bank account. The payout is marked as COMPLETED in our system.
  11. Send notification of funds transfer: The beneficiary's bank sends a confirmation message back to Localpayment via the local clearing system.
  12. Send confirmation to Merchant: Localpayment sends a webhook to your configured endpoint. The payload includes the final status, bank reference number, and processing timestamps. Your system receives the webhook, verifies the signature, and updates your internal ledger.
